As January finally comes to a close we thought we would share some of our favourite beers over the last two weeks with our own personal reviews...
First up, North Brew's birthday TIPA, Six Times Around The Sun, Abv 10%. We missed out on this when we got it in originally as it sold out so quickly, so Alex at North kindly sent over some for us to try! Got to say, was an absolute beaut. Firstly, you can't taste the high abv at all, that's a good and bad thing! Haha! The pineapple and melon definitely shine through. Didn't get the banana taste but it was a thoroughly tropical experience without being too sweet. As most of you will know we brewed a TIPA with North not so long ago and it became one of the highest rated beers on Untapped. North clearly can smash the TIPAs, and this one is brewed with their new brew kit at Springwell. We are all waiting for Chris & John to organise North's first beer fest! ;) Yup, we put it out there...lets see what this year holds in store for our great friends. Fancy trying some other North beers or even their lovely glassware? Click here.
Next is the oh so wonderful Overtone and Future State collab, Synth Star, IPA, 8%. Firstly two breweries who are on fire right now...smooth drinking, a few tropical notes followed by a small amount of bitterness. We re-stocked this three times due to popular demand and it fully lived up to the hype! Very easy to drink but if your not a fan of the bitterness after taste then this isn't for you. We personally haven't had a bad overtone beer yet, excited to see what this brewery will be bringing out this year. Go give their beers a try if you haven't already here.
Verdant PUTTYYYY!!! We tried it now and then kept some to try again in a couple of weeks time to see how the taste changes. It's hyped every year and you can't contest it's a brilliant beer. Love the new artwork on the can itself. Matches the tastes of a tropical explosion in your mouth. This 8% DIPA is balanced fantastic. The colour speaks volumes as it's a little bit creamy, which we really enjoyed. Notes of apricot/peaches flow through. Our opinion is that it tastes even better than the original. Head over to purchase one if you haven't already as we just have re-stocked it once more, plus a fresh re-stock of the infamous Even Sharks... click here.
These three breweries have brought out some fantastic beer to keep us all going through January. We've also enjoyed some low abv beers as you've seen on our instagram posts, specifically Gipsy Hill's Squashed range. It's been nice to get a good balance. However, February is less than 24 hours away and we can't wait to get back to it! There's plenty of fun occasions coming up including Valentines, so let's get celebrating as we slowly get back to the new 'norm' here in the UK...
