Newbarns Brewery
In 2012, we (Gordon and Emma) moved down to London from the east coast of Scotland. The initial plan wasn’t to become brewers, but not long after moving down there we both found ourselves working at two great breweries. Gordon began working at Siren Craft Brew when they opened in 2013 while Emma found herself at The Kernel Brewery in early 2014. A few years later, Gordon then came to join the team at The Kernel.
We met Freddie in 2012 just before he began working for Beavertown Brewery. And Jonny? No idea. Can’t remember. He just turned up at the pub one day and we hit it off immediately. He also worked at Beavertown, looking after the Tempus Project. During our time in London, we made friends with many lovely people in the industry who we can still call very close friends of ours.
It had always been an idea that we’d like to open our own brewery one day. So in 2018 we decided it was time to get a move on and by 2019 the four of us moved up to Edinburgh to start Newbarns Brewery.
